re: The Kinks On Colour Me Pop Hi, Noticed the posts about The Kinks' appearance on this BBC2 show and thought I'd let you all know the latest. Bad news, I'm afriad. For many years, it was rumoured that the show was indeed among those shipped off to the States / Europe. In the late 90s, after extensive research on my part, it seemed that I had located The Kinks' tape... but the contact was reluctant to part with a copy. Anyway, later (when I was assisting a friend on a defintive book on the group) I re-approached the collector who came clean, telling me that The Kinks' performance wasn't from Colour Me Pop. But in fact from Swedish TV's Popside. There ya go. Either he was telling lies or he just didn't realise there was a difference. I suspect the latter. My search was futile and this has left me believing that, as we guessed, the show no longer survives. I'd love to be proved wrong. Best Wishes, Keith Badman

Thanks a lot for your informative reply Keith- just the information I was looking for! It is a real kick in the teeth to find that the show doesn't exist, but at least it is better than my nigthmare scenario- that the show did exist, and was junked only recently. Out of interest, did you ever find out what year the Swedish show was from and what songs they performed on it? Was it a rare show or something that already existed in the known Swedish archives?

Yes, i'd never heard of that one. Presumably it is in colour (hence the confusion with it being mixed up with Colour Me Pop). I'd also like to know the contents / format / length and whether or not it's safe in the Swedish TV archives (or just exists out there somewhere as a pirate recording).
