Up now:
Slade doing "Gudbye T'Jane". Note that on the screen behind Ilya, as we go into the clip, you see about 2 seconds of Ed Stewart before the clip begins.
T Rex doing "Telegram Sam". Another mis-cue, which this time brings up the VT clock/slate. This would seem to confirm that ZDF were supplied with just the clips they needed and not sent the whole editions, which has sometimes been suggested.
Note also, as Ilya is talking, you can see them lining up the caption on the monitor behind him. (These were not generated electronically in those days - it would have been a camera looking at a stand with a bit of cardboard on it with the caption done in Letraset. This could be overlayed or inlayed into the main picture)
Who doing "5:15", courtesy of Matthew North. The tape is badly chewed in the middle, so be prepared for both vision and sound break-ups. It's a complete mystery where this would have come from, as it seems to link into Jimmy Savile at the end, so was presumably not simply used as a lone clip on a foreign TV show. It's really also too early (1973) to be a home off-air (the original is colour, which has largely fallen out of the version here, due to generational loss).
Elton John doing "Daniel". This is different (though very similar) to the BBC-held clip. This version is from "The Best of EJ" video, and they have dubbed over the bits which show the "Disco" studio for some reason, giving a pure "TOTP" version.
