This may have been asked before, but having enjoyed the James Taylor "You've Got A Friend" performance on TOTP2 tonight, originally sourced from "In Concert", I wondered what the archive status of this show is.
I would have thought that most if not all shows survive due the amount of stuff that has been shown over the years.
More info please...

On the contrary, I'd be surprised if much has survived, given that it was early seventies BBC! I bet the Lynsey de Paul one hasn't - I got the p*** taken out of me something rotten by my mates when I said I'd enjoyed that one......

The majority of In Concert exists. A few from the early years are missing but the vast bulk are there. A highly repeatable series, i'd say.

Thanks for the confirmation Laurence.
Have you got a detailed list to hand?
I seem to remember the Carpenters' show was repeated a little while ago, but I don't know if it was the complete version.
Would love to see complete shows repeated, along with similar programmes from the time like "Sight and Sound In Concert."

I have the Leo Sayer and 10CC ones. UK Arena broadcast them a few years ago now. I'd love to see the David Essex one again. Anyone got that one? I'd love to see a list of what was on these In Concert series and what does survive.

I also have the 10cc and Leo Sayer ones myself, both from 1974, as repeated on UK Arena (the only ones I managed to grab).
There are too many to list here but Kal's index lists 21 missing out of 100 editions missing, made between 1970 and 1976 (when the title changed to Sight & Sound In Concert I would imagine). So 79 survive. Also, all the Sight & Sounds exist in addition.
It's a real diverse selection of acts; one week it's pop/rock, another it's folk or singer-songwriters, another it's (groan) prog rock. Possibly Laura Nyro is the saddest loss. A lot of good ones that are highly repeatable from various fields though such as The Kinks, Elton John, Joni Mitchell, Donovan, The Eagles, Oscar Peterson, Cliff Richard, Neil Young, Pentangle etc etc...

The Joni Mitchell one was repeated on BBC4 recently. I'd love to see the Kinks one too, also the Nillson one, which was repeated on BBC a few years back, and which I would've taped if I'd known in advance how good it was...

I have The Eagles one from April 1973 which is excellent.

App there was once a fight behind the scenes of a mid-Seventies TOTP between Ms de Paul and Suzi Quatro which had to be broken up by the floor manager. I don't know what the details were but app Ms Quatro (all 5 foot of her) had Ms de Paul up against the wall by the scruff of the neck with her feet off the floor! Steve
