Just out of curiousity, as I've wondered about this one for some time, how can you be so definite on the date?

Is it that this performance as originally shown on Disco contains a shot of Noel which gives it away? As you will have gathered, there is no evidence of this on the "Elton John, Very Best of" compilation video, but I am aware that repeat shots were used to mask the usual Disco audience cutaway shots.

Yes...on the Disco edition, just before it goes to the Elton John 'Daniel' performance, you can see a brief shot of Noel Edmonds stood there in a checked jacket and huge dickie-bow tie!
