www.steve-p.org/pop/missing.htmThis time: "Something" by Shirley Bassey. This is the Beatles song which she took to number 2 in the charts - her biggest hit. Superb performance. Note the clip seems to have raw studio sound on it and finishes without the usual TOTP dubbed clapping. "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix. One of the most sought after (and famous) TOTP clips. The quality is not good, but better than some copies I've seen. It is obviously available somewhere in decent quality as at least one documentary has used it (see second clip - I love the commentary on this: "Even the little girls who had come to see The Monkees knew what *this* was all about." "Sorry Suzanne" by The Hollies. This was used in the Hits A Gogo programme, but seems to be sourced from elsewhere, possibly British TV. Steve

PS. The clip of The Who doing The Seeker has also been updated in better quality.

Steve - Thanks again for putting these online for us all to see.
I particulary liked the Hendrix clip, despite the quality. Obviously, a decent copy is around somewhere judging from the documentary clip.
More please...
Regards,
Mark

I know this topic is old etc, but are the "Hits a go go" and "Disco" programmes available on satellite or anything to people in the UK? Do they still show old clips from missing TOTPs?
I have a Sky TV sat receiver hooked up to a Panasonic E55 DVD recorder and would love to archive these to high quality DVD.
Cheers
J

You won't get them on Sky.
Lidl do German analogue sets occasionally. They sell out v early.
That's your best bet. No subscription! I wonder how long analogue will last though!

I'm totally out of touch. Haven't recored form German tv for ten years!
Back then MDR and ZDF did Beatclub and Disco. do they still exist.
I suggest you type Beatclub in a search engine and go from there!

There are complete lists around of the TOTP stuff from Disco (check older messages on this forum) - although there appears to be at least one insert tape for Disco containing TOTP clips not subsequently used on the show. No list of TOTP clips from HAGG, AFAIK. Bobby Gentry clip presumably charted later in Germany (i.e. in 1971). Steve
