Can anyone help. I'm trying to remember the details of a horror story which I'm sure was on tv, don't know when. It may have unconsciously inspired the Meaning of Life sketch about the salmon mousse. Anyway, a couple and their guests are holding a dinner party in their house, and for some reason they all die of starvation (can't rememebr why!). I can just remember the final scene is of a newscaster (Richard Baker playing himself?) reporting the find, and saying something along the lines of 'the police are puzzled because the people were surrounded by the uneaten remains of a sumptuous meal...'

Isn't this an episode of the early '70s play anthology series, 'Dead Of Night'? Directed by Don Taylor. 1972? What's the title anybody? My brain has seized up!

the food is left because the ghosts originally starved and made the current guests suffer their fate by making the food unbearable to eat , this show deserves an xmas repeat also a radio version exists

Thanks for all the info. Was it as early as 1972? I would have placed it a year or two later, I think.
