Hello All! This is only for your fun & entertainment. But did you know that the TOTP chart in the 60's up to 15th Feb 1969 was NOT the same as that given in "Guinness Book Of Hit Singles" NO sir; the B.B.C used a combined weighted average of N.M.E, Melody Maker and Disc's charts to get their chart. The Record Retailer chart which Guinness use through most of the 60's wasn't incorporated into the B.B.C's calculations until Jan 66. An example = Rolling Stones "19th Nervous Breakdown" was No1 on TOTP for Feb 19th, March 5th & 12th; because it was No1 on the NME, MM & DISC charts those weeks; ONLY R. Retailer held it at No2. BUT it was a bona-fide TOTP No1. Hope that's of interest to a few. ASM (Chartman)
