I was wondering about the high number of missing episodes of The Avengers from season one. Was that season sold abroad, say Australia perhaps?

I think you will find with season 1 the majority were performed live and therefore not even recorded in the first place.

Actually, it came to light later that quite a number were telerecorded live. Two and a half episodes survive and I think I recall that the first sixteen were also recorded (if not more?) So it's always possible that more could survive. An Avengers expert can probably provide more detailed and up to date info.

Thanks for the info there! I'm usually so focused on the Doctor Who side of things that I hadn't thought to investigate other shows.

The Avengers was a British production so would have been made in series NOT Seasons.

You're quite right! It's a term I try to avoid myself but often it gets into the system. "Series" is more appropriate anyway as UK TV often doesn't run a series for the length of a whole "season" (3 months) and they come in all shapes, sizes and lengths.
