Television West & Wales. ITV contractor from 1958 to 1968. Lost it's franchise because it was too London-based. How things have changed!
TWW chose to go off air early to annoy the regulator, causing them to have to put on a temporary service until HTV could take over.
Interestingly, the first ITV company to make regular programmes on colour videotape. These were screened on BBC2 in 1967 and 1968.

I watched episode 2 of 'Your Channel' last night - absolutely excellent! Almost unique to find an intelligent tv history documentary on ITV1 these days.
Loads of TWW clips and idents, and even some rare footage of the long-forgotten ITV station WWN.
I had no idea that so much of TWW's programming remains, including a edition of the TWW pop show 'Discs -a - Go- Go', on excellent quality quad tape.
The programme went into quite some detail about why TWW lost it's franchise. I always knew that the regulator was unhappy with the station's London-centred management, but the programme last night gave a new reason.......
....the station kept putting out documentaries praising the TWW board's members and their personal lives and achievements - rather than putting out documentaries of local interest!
Even TWW's final programme, 'Come to an End' with John Betjeman, was all about London and it's history. Unbelievable as a final Wales and West regional programme!
However, the regualtor got their own back for TWW's snub (i.e. choosing to going off air weeks before the end of their franchise), by turning off the TWW transmitter midway through their final programme. How acrimonious can you get.

Any clips from Peter Wingarde as engineer Isombard Brunel in (I think?) TWW's contribution to ITV's play of the month?

No, pretty sure it was not covered. I'll check my recording of the programme. The announcer did say that all clips from the programme are available to view online via itv.com

Definetely worth checking out as this includes ful clips not featured in the tv series including two early cliff richard interviews (surely would be great for use as an extra on a dvd of the young ones) great stuff!

Did my ears deceive me or was Kenneth Griffith named as Kenneth Williams!
Ohh matron! Shurely shome mistake.
Griffith's Micheal Collins film was superb. The IBA banned it for years.
I remember the Beeb showing it in the 90's.
Fascinating to see Deano, a young Welsh female popster about which I know zilch cept she is on TYLS from May 66.
She'd be 55 ish now. Wonder what happened to her?

All I do know about Deano is she released 4 singles across 1965 and 1966 as well as an EP. I too wonder whatever happened to not just Deano but also the many other girl singers of the era who made a handful of singles each before vanishing such as Truly Smith, Carol Friday, Tawny Reed, Peanut, Jan Panter, Val McKenna... there were loads of them! I'd also love to know whatever became of Judith Powell, the girl Man Alive featured in a 1967 documentary showing the behind the scenes machinations of creating pop stars. There's a fascinating book waiting to be written about that whole genre and era.
