Does anyone know if any of Romany Jones survives starring Jimmy Beck and Arthur Mullard?
I seem to remember this series been really popular despite the tag given to it in recent years that apparently it wasnt really very good.

Yus!
Mike was in Yus My Dear playing Arthur Mullard's brother Benny.
I'd be intrigued to see these again as I remember watching them as a child and thinking they were hilarious, they've never been repeated on any of the satellite networks to my knowledge and then I read that Mark Lewisohn nominated them a the worst sit-coms of all time, which leaves me wondering were they really that bad? After all you had some great actors in there like James Beck, Arthur Mullard, Queenie Watts and Jo Rowbottom.
Mind you I used to love On The Buses as a child and I hate that now!

The Posh couple (the Crichton-Jones) came in after James Beck died, Jonathan Cecil played Jeremy Crichton-Jones who I think was an ex City gent trying to adapt to life living in a caravan. I think it was a brave attempt to carry on a show which was originally designed for an actor who died and obviously ran for another 2 series afterwards. Jo Rowbottom did quite a bit in the 60's and 70's, she appears in the Doctor Who Evil Of The Daleks story , a 1970 BBC adaptation of Little Women (does that survive, I wonder?) and I recently watched an appearance of her in an excellent episode of Armchair Theatre from around 1965 that also featured John Le Mesurier, Peter Butterworth and Peter Vaughn. A great actress and quite pretty too!

(2/6/65), "The Befrienders", "Z Cars", "Softly, Softly: Task Force", "Morecambe and Wise", "I, Claudius", "Graham's Gang", "The Sun Trap", "Love Hurts" (and many many more...)

Apparently Arthur English played the character of Wally Briggs in the pilot show of Romany Jones, this character was later played by Arthur Mullard for the series.

I saw some of The On The Buses shows when Men and Motors repeated them a few months back, I was shocked how all the characters seemed to shout their way through the scripts, it certainly didnt stand up for me as much as Please Sir ! or Doctor In The House from the same era which were been repeated on the same channel at the time.[
