In terms of interview guests (rather than musical performances) I'd imagine that the Jane Asher appearance (in which she announced that her engagement to Paul McCartney was broken) and the George Lazenby fiasco would be the holy grails of Dee Time chat show appearances. The latter sounds like absolute TV gold.

What happened with the Lazenby thing then? Not heard about that!

From wikipedia: After a bizarre interview with George Lazenby (who had been smoking cannabis and outlined his theories on the assassination of John F. Kennedy at length), the show was not recommissioned
From the Times Online: Not quite as clear was how the actor George Lazenby came to appear on Dee’s show in a very emotional state and rant about all the American senators he thought were implicated in the assassination of JFK. Or, indeed, how the pre-recorded show — which everyone agreed must never be broadcast — then came to be broadcast, thus helping to end Dee’s career

It would be fascinating if Yoko did somehow own a recording of that full LWT show somewhere. Because it was on that very programme that the Lazenby interview also took place, if my research is correct. Er, does anybody here know Philip Norman (presently writing/putting the finishing touches to a pro-Yoko John Lennon biography, and on very good terms with her)...

John & Yoko were on the Sunday 8th February 1970 edition which was the 4th show in the LWT series (and it was broadcast quite late, 11:25pm-12:15am). If Lazenby was on that show too then the chances of an audio of his appearance surviving must be greatly increased.

Wow, that sounds so amazing, if only we could get to watch it! What a pity.... . . . ...... . . Does anyone have yoko's mobile, LOL I agree though, its quite likely an audio would be out there... . . . ...... . ...... somewhere!

although I don't like to say it, the chances are that anyone who did record the audio would have just recorded the lenon and yoko bit.

That is true, but you never know, if it hypothetically might be out there, they may have kept it in context.

whilst bugger all is left of the TV shows themselves then surely there must be lost Simon Dee material existing in audio form. About four minutes of one particular edition has turned up in off-air audio format - it consists of the opening credits, some of Simon's opening monologue (referencing musical director Max Harris, so presumably from one of the editions made at Lime Grove, rather than the earlier Manchester series) and a performance by singer Marilyn Powell - it's been uploaded by a fan of Powell onto Y*tube, and is quite interesting to hear. Anyone know the TX date? Hopefully there's more out there! Hello to Suffolkpunch, by the way - love the book!
