not being an expert on AOW, are any of the missing episodes of series 1 and 2 known to exist.

Well... none are known to exist - or they'd have been returned by now. Some suspect that"Seven Serpents, Sulphur and Salt" may have survived as the tapes for this serial were included in the 1973-74 repeat season. However, nothing has so far been found.

It was just a straight repeat of the whole thing from tape, two years later. As far as I recall it was as a preview to a full run of series 3 repeats in 1973 - 74.
