I recall the following:
Around 1973; NATIONWIDE had some kind of article in which two clips started the debate (or interview).
This was a clip where Christopher Lee as Dracula in SCARS OF DRACULA is seen with bloodshot eyes and bloody lips having bitten a victim.
The other clip (montaged) was of the monster as it turns round in CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN; then begins strangling Peter Cushings Doctor.
There is reference to a HAMMER FILM article from 1973 but apparently I undrestand this utilised only 'THE DEVIL RIDES OUT'.
I wondered if theres any record of another item being shown either on Chris Lee or Horror films (general) from around then that might be the item I recall.
Another friend in the late 1970s mad reference to use in an article on 'violence on television' of a clip of TERROR OF THE AUTONS (Dr Who). He said it was alter than its original transmission but that the clip 'looked older than when broadcast and faded'. This sounds like a telerecording (before we knew of them).
An itme appeared somewhere I recall saying that in recent years 'a VT article from NATIONWIDE was discovered in which the only known colour PAL VT material from TERROR OF THE AUTONS was clipped'. This was obviously made at a time (1973 - ?); the original tapes had still not been released.
I'd assume one of the articles just described to around 1973 and the other maybe 75 - 77 using a different clip from the show but after the tape versions had been recycled.
Can anyone shed any light on these points ? Thanks.

The only existing bit of true PAL 2" colour 'Terror of the Autons' is from an insert spool from Nationwide from the week prior to the transmission of 'The Green Death':6, as it's part of a report about Katy Manning leaving the series.

Thanks for this Steve - it's the information I was looking for on that item.
I don't know whether my friend was mixing up the show that showed the later 'TERROR OF THE AUTONS' clip; but I suspect this to be c. 1977; at which point only B+W film recordings would have been the only form available.

Actually; from the date it's possible he was recalling a clip shown on the 'Whose Doctor Who' documentary around that time.
