I recently screened the "Fawlty Towers Revisited" special that airs periodically here in the U.S. on public television (especially during pledge drives). John Cleese mentioned that in the episode with the psychiatrists, they filmed an extended version of the scene in which Basil spends the night in the broom closet. It was cut in order to get the episode down to the proper running time, and according to Cleese, it is now lost.
My question is: does anyone have a comprehensive list of deleted (and therefore, presumably, lost to the ages] footage for Fawlty Towers?

I suppose in 1979, keeping cut footage was not a priority at the BBC; Sue Malden had only just established an archive. Well, the archive had been in place for a long time before that, but there was no remit to keep cut material - and there still isn't! Andrew Pixley did a fine set of articles on Fawlty Towers several years ago for TV Zone, but I can't recall if he indicated about any scripted sequences cut from the episodes themselves. Richard

probably just the stuff from the Christmas Tape. I've never heard of any other 'missing' footage.

That's probably it, unless they found lookalikes to film the non-existent 13th episode.

There's also the matter of the original pilot (a slightly different version of A Touch of Class) ...

well I'll welcome any unseen or rare material, and its high time Fawlty Towers had a tribute show commemorating it, would be nice to get contributions from all four leads though, particularly Connie Booth who also helped write it!

I wish they were more specific about when this is going to happen.
