Quite recently there was a DVD release entitled 'The Best Of ITV Wrestling'. It was presented by Dickie Davies and featured the usual characters such as Big Daddy, Kendo Nagasaki, Giant Haystacks etc etc. Now all footage was pulled from the old WOS broadcasts.
I was wondering who would own these and if they were still available as WOS showed a lot of Speedway during the 1970's and 1980's.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Thats a good one... We know about the "Grandstand" archive holdings and that the linking material was rarely ever kept. I have wondered if "World Of Sport" was archived in a similar way or not. Would be interested to learn what remains in the archives.

Would be interested to learn what remains in the archives. Was it LWT who produced WOS? I'd love to know if they kept any of the speedway meetings they filmed during the 70's and 1980's. I do think it would be a popular release were they (or whoever owns the copyright) to put a dvd out.

I don't know if many whole WOS shows survive (there's the late '70s one with Eric Morecambe guesting, which seems to be used often as clips) but probably individual sporting items survive in fairly large quantities, as with Grandstand. I've even seen some b/w VT material used in docs of ITV Wrestling etc. so some material does seem to exist. Anyone know more?

ITV Sport is a different archive to that of LWT or other ITV companies - still based at the South Bank, they do have quite some holdings with a mix of complete progs and items, though some only have the briefest of descriptions. The trouble with some of their holdings may be that although they have a tape, they may not own the copyright, just being the UK broadcaster transmitting under licence - but as something wrestling was for ITV, that would be 100% theirs.
I don't know more than this but hopes it helps a little.

Would anyone know who I would need to get in contact with to discuss the possibility of getting a 'Best Of ITV Speedway' DVD released?
