On BBC4 last night in their brilliant Childrens TV on Trial series there was a programme dedicated to Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin, creators of Bagpuss, Noggin The Nog, Ivor The Engine etc.
In one scene recorded in the shed at the bottom of the garden the camera panned over to dozens of discarded film cans.
Firmin or Postage, I dont know which ones which, waved a hand and said "I dont know what they are, I have been meaning to check them for years!".
I am not suggesting Doctor Who's Marco Polo is in their, nor any other mising tv but it actually shows that in 2007 people can have film cans stored away and not know or remember whats in them.
Fascinating or scary?

Fascinating rather than scary. The film material is almost certainly from a Firmin-Postgate Smallfilms production. They were film-makers rather than film collectors and so would have little reason to check the cans unless they were required for an ongoing project. I hope Postgate does look at them eventually. Maybe they contain some rare 'Clangers' outtakes.

Maybe they are cans of their early Rediffusion work! Hope those cans get looked at...
