Does anyone (sports / athletics buffs?) know if there is any surviving footage of one of Britain's greatest-ever female track athletes Lillian Board, who tragically died of cancer in December 1970 aged just 22?
I was just a kid at the time but I clearly remember her being all over the media, and also the reports of her death.
She was a great loss to British sport, and many pundits believe that had she lived she'd have been a sure-fire bet for more medals at the Munich '72 and Montreal '76 Olympics (to add to the 400 m silver she won at Mexico '68).

I suppose the Mexico 68 Olympics would be a starting point? and later the Greece 69 European Championships Yes a tragic story, she was to marry runner David Emery but he later married her sister.

Hey, I've just joined this group - and think I can help on this one!
Although not much of a sports fan, I've got colour VT of Lillian Board's race at the Olympics (beaten by a French girl - I think her name was Collette Besson). I've also got her final leg of - I think - the 1969 European Games, when she beat the same French girl, IIRC.
I keep all my recordings (and there's loads) on discs in DV data form, so I can easily copy them to my Apple to make DVDs.
Contact me by email.
Colin.
