Nothing to do with Tony Curtis - but a documentary series hosted by Cliff Michelmore in early 1969 about Marketing, broadcast on BBC. A friend of mine is in one of them. Do they still exist?

The BBC has material for four episodes (I'm not sure off hand how many were made) of the 1969 series (there was a similar series with the same title in 1979...). The programmes from 7/1/69 "Women's Own Weeklies" and 14/1/69 "Symbols by the Gallon" exist as 16mm telerecordings, the editions from 21/1/69 "I Have Other Things to Do With My Money" and 28/1/69 "The Singer and the Song" only exist as the film inserts.

The BFI hold a programme with the same title edition "Laughing all the way" listed as 1979. Seems a coincidence, unless the series was revived or repeated?

The 1969 series was on b/w, the 1979 series was completely new and made in colour. The '69 series was a studio based series presented by Cliff Michelmore, with film inserts. The '79 series was made by BBC Scotland on film but edited and transmitted from VT - though the VT for a couple of the episodes no longer exists, the film for them all survives. As far as I know the use of the same title was a co-incidence...
The '79 series consists of: 26/07/79 Laughing All the Way 02/08/79 Everybody's Blowing Bubbles 09/08/79 The Art of Persuasion 16/08/79 Rolling the Bandwagon 23/08/79 The Whisper That Shouts 30/08/79 The United States of Advertising

It now all makes sense.

I've checked out the 1969 series - there were six episodes in all, the other two being "We Shall Overcome" tx 4/2/69 and "You Don't Like to Ask Do You" tx 11/2/69 - of which nothing exists. John, what's your friend's name, I can check whether the episode they were in still exists?

Hello Martin. I do know that she was in the Singer and the Song... the film inserts of which you've already mentioned survive. What is this footage likely to be? (she was the singer in the group that was being 'groomed'!)

It seems very likely she would be in the surviving material - the Infax cataloguing doesn't give every name, but gives the group's name, Fivepenny Piece.
