Apparently the 1967/68 new years special "Suddenly it's 1968" was in the bbc archive until 1997 when it was borrowed and not returned, can any shed some more light on this

I've heard a rumour that there is an edition featuring Del Shannon out there.
Can't confirm it. Is that the one?

The complete programme wasn't in the archive as recently as 1997, if it had been there would still be a record of it on Infax, and there isn't - a programme record doesn't get deleted even if material for it has gone missing (as it may turn up again!).

there are also clips used in a documentary from the early 90s, I'll try to get a title.

Would the taped be "borrowed" anyway? Surely if someone wanted it, they'd make a copy and give them that, to prevent such a situation occuring? It would seem a bit careless to be handing out master footage.
