A work colleague has joined a petition to attempt to get episodes of the 1960 to 1963 drama series Maigret out on DVD.
He is unsure of the archive status of the programme.
Can anyone please advise?
Many Thanks

They all exist, as does the 1969 "Play of the Month" revival also with Rupert Davies.

Thanks Andrew.
We had a suspicion this was the case due to the strong campaign to get episodes released.
I am not the fan, my colleague is but its wonderful they all exist.
A shame its not the case for everything else, mainly Doctor Who of which I am a lifetime fan.
Still, heres hoping for more recoveries.
Thanks again, Chris.

Four have been repeated since the 60s - "Seven Little Crosses" on 31/8/82, "The Fontenay Murders" on 21/11/82, "Death in Mind" on 24/9/89 and "Maigret's Little Joke" on 22/9/91.

As I recall the 31/8/82 tx (Bank Holiday ?) turned out to be an episode that hardly had any of Maigret himself in it; it was all Lucas, Lapointe, Torrance etc and thay had to put the The Fontenay Murders on soonish after because of complaints (I still have that on VHS). IMHO sadly the BBC/Davies Maigrets have not aged well - they look very stagey and old fashioned now. I saw a few at the NFT some years ago and was very disappointed; nowhere near as good as I had remembered them. Even so, I think there'd be a market for them; actually I'd buy them despite what I said above. It would be interesting to run the Gambon versions against the corresponding Davies episodes. I didn't like the Gambon version when first aired, but watching the ITV2/3/4/? repeats recently I thought they weren't that bad. (Are the Gambon episodes out on DVD, anyone know ?)
