Interesting article. I remember reading the Cinefantastique piece, many years ago. I've only seen 'The Hound of the Baskervilles', which I liked despite a few flaws. I'd say it's a minor miracle that any of the 16 episodes were kept. I know most of the Douglas Wilmer episodes have survived intact, but these are all - I believe - film recordings made for overseas sales. Were any of the Cushing episodes film recorded?

A large number of early colour programs that were made on 2" Quad tapes in 625 PAL for transmission on BBC2 between 1968 - 1970 were sadly wiped almost 40 years ago. A good example is series three of 'Out of the Unknown' that only has one episode complete (The Last Lonely Man), 28.5 minutes of 'The Little Black Bag' & an audio copy of 'The Yellow Pill' in private hands. The BBC wiped so much good TV, it’s awful. Then sadly so much that survives is commercial unavailable to add that extra twist
