Well garages and sheds seem to be the place to find these old gems. Under beds another too. you might know the following but just for amusement anyway...
'Mystery of the Wax Museum' circa 1931 made in two band Technicolor (IE they did not how to get blue at that time ) . Lost for many years, the only print in the world found under a bed in the 1970s.
Dads Army two prints from the first series, found in a shed. circa 2003.
Space Patrol 1962 complete series found in a garage, but not the masters. The resultant find was Network DVD's second release IIRC
The Rolling Stones early promos by Pete Whitehead lost for all of the 1960s but later found in a garage

Whitehead, he also recorded some footage of Pink Floyd in a studio session which he funded. The footage has since become available on the Pink Floyd London 1966 DVD release. I was curious where the material was sourced from. Was the material ever lost and rediscovered ? I have no idea here, so any info would be great. Thanks as usual.

The Whitehead footage was lost for (what could now regarded as a very short time) perhaps until the late 1970s? But then we have to consider the times of the 1960s-1970s where things changed rapidly and became passe very quickly. So something from 1965 would have in for example 1972 looked very old fashioned indeed, this could be why Whitehead probably forgot what he had put his stuff?
I think in later years he got some younger relatives to manage it and they and the footage became part of the Huntley Archive IIRC
