www.facebook.com/groups/5336406018?multi_permalinks=10162274781581019&hoisted_section_header_type=recently_seen'Hello everyone I think we might have made an exciting discovery ... picked this tape up at a car boot a few months back but have only just been able to listen and it's a complete audio recording of an episode of Top of the Pops that we believe to be from 8 December 1966 (ignore the writing on the tape, which my dad wrote before he could properly play it!), featuring performances from Tom Jones, the Easybeats and Jimmy Ruffin. It's obviously quite exciting as I know many of these episodes don't exist in any format - does anyone know if this one is totally missing (until now anyway lol) and if so who, if anyone, to contact about it at the BBC or similar? Thanks!' Steve Roberts is on the case, it looks like.

if you give it to the BBC no-one will ever hear it ! The biggie on that episode is Dead End Street by The Kinks with a live vocal. A fair quality recording (4/10 ?) exists but obvs an upgrade is very desirable. I'd suggest you send it to Andrew Sandoval who has been in charge of Kinks reissue projects. I would offer the Easybeats to the Australian Film and TV archive.
