The new "members only" restrictions are affecting some people in other ways.. I have tried repeatedly to log in, but have never received the confirmation e-mail message. As such I can not register properly, and thus can not post any replies! In addition to this, the level of spamming, and rude messages has led me to decide that I have no desire to popst/read messages on these boards anymore. I realise that I am by no means the first person to come to this decision either. I remember people who used to post here regularly but have now left due to the high level of idiocy that has crept into these boards in recent times. People like Frederick Thompson, Pam Rostron, Anthony Harvison and the original Andy Henderson. So it's goodbye from me, and thanks to those of you with whom I have had pleasant, intelligent conversations. To the spammers and numbnuts, I hope you're happy. Thank you; not only for using my name, but also for using, almost word for word, a post I made when I couldn't register for a while. Ever had an original thought, by any chance?.

The Member Imitator surely can't be a spam-bot. It must be one man, who surely can has an IP address that can be blocked.

Though he (if he's a he) is not much of a man if he/she/it behaves like this...

It is usually pointless to understand the motives of a so-called troll. Well, trolls don't imitate, but I can't think of any reason for that either.
For some lonely individuals, the only way to get attention is to upset others.

For some lonely individuals, the only way to get attention is to upset others. Sadly this is very true. I am a member of various music forums and there are two particular individuals who over the course of this year have done everything imaginable to upset, offend and break up these web communities by concocting endless lies, propaganda, creating fake sites alleged to be by good people they are actually impersonating. I myself became one of their targets and various sites sprung up allegedly by me and then the morons behind them used their sites to "reply" and drag my name and reputation through the mud. Hardly words of comfort but what I see going on here with various members being impersonated and rumours and nonsense being spread is a sad sign of the times. There are quite simply a whole load of sad morons without a social life who have nothing better to do than antagonise and annoy.

Well... they merely found a way for cowards to insult people. They can hide forever.
The spambots are different, these aren't living. They somehow detect a forum and post a standard fake message. Or twenty. Thousand. A day. The people who make such spamming programmes should be shot on site without trial. The 'Greek' text they post must be some side effect specific to this site, I think.

Guys.
Please refer to my Dodgy Posts thread.
I would be grateful if people could PM me details of any offending post. The best solution for me is to delete these posts at the moment. I'm afraid I can't block the specific IP address or IP range at the moment.
Fingers crossed we can nip this in the bud.
Regards,
Paul
