This new series follows on the enthusiasm created by a recent experimental programme shown on Border Television after which a number of well-known local bands have been engaged.
A local man, Rodney Warr, will be the host of the programme each week and the first band to be heard will be “The New Galaleans” with vocalist Mary Halliday.
A small number of local teenagers will be invited to the studio each week to take part in the dancing.

This week at 6.15 the local compere Rodney Warr, introduces “The Rikki Barnes All Stars’ (with Steve O’Neil and Lynne Curtis). The guest star of the week is pop and ballad vocalist Johnny Le Roy. Johnny has just completed an engagement at the West End Stork Room in Regent Street, London.

The local jazz programme “Beat in the Border” takes on new flavour, at 6.15 tonight when the Tex Mathews Caribbean Rhythm forsake their Manchester base to pay a visit to the Carlisle studios.
They will be sharing the honours with a Carlisle group The Ivan Hunter Quartet, with Arthur Ling on the Alto Sax. Guest singer will be the local vocalist, Bobby Laing, and as a special item, the recording artist, Donna Douglas, now appearing at Her Majesty’s Theatre, will sing in the studios.
