www.beatlesbible.com/1969/12/14/television-with-a-little-help-from-my-friends/this missing Yorkshire TV special is probably most famed amongst Beatles fans for featuring Ringo Starr's only Tv appearance singing 'Octopuses Garden' but it also featured Dudley Moore, The Hollies, Blue Mink, Lulu, Spike Milligan and dancers Pan’s People and Martin himself conducting his orchestra. I was wondering if anyone had any more details on it beyond the scant ones avaialble at the link above? For instance, what songs did the other acts sing?

A partial audio recovery has been made - not the complete show, misses out Lulu, oddly. Ringo's bit is the re-recorded backing track (see the John Barrett Tapes) PLUS a children's choir (VERY Yorkshire TV!!!!) and additional sound effects.
I know a man who has heard the whole thing (who I believe was involved in the discovery of the audio tape), so hopefully he'll be reading this and comment accordingly as I havnae heard the whole thing.

I remember seeing it. If I recall correctly they had George Harrison's Moog synth (with all the plug and cables) and used it for an Abbey Road medley. I got Abbey Road the following day for Christmas, my first Beatles album!
Thanks for the photos.

As I seem to recall is was George Martin on the keyboard. As I wrote on the TV Pop Diaries "Martin was hired as the "adviser on light music" at Yorkshire TV in summer 1967 and would act as Executive Producer on his own shows, however it seems to have taken over two years to actually produce one." It was shown at 3.00 pm on Christmas Day on Anglia, elsewhere the evening before.

There are 2 Beatles related shows which are more important to find than the complete 66 totp's performances. First is The Eamonn Andrews Show with Eight Day's A Week, the only filmed performance. And With A Little Help From My Friends 1969 TV Special, the only contemporary performance of an Abbey Road song by a Beatle.

Does the With A Little Help From My Friends 1969 TV Special make Ringo the 2nd Beatle to sing one of thier songs solo ? The first being Paul with Yesterday.
