Hi All, I have, in my possession loads of index file cards for various BBC shows. When the Costune Aquisitions department moved from TVC to Acton they were being thrown out and I scooped them up. They don't have a lot of information on them, just stuff like what production, number, director, designer. On the reverse it lists how long the costumes were worked on. The majority - I think - are from the mid 80's. There are some - again I think - that are from the 60's which have an actual price on them per episode. I have been looking to seel some of these on E-bay but have had little success having sold only a few. My question is this. Is there somewhere where these kind of thing are stored and/or recorded? It's original documentation, but I don't know if it is of any kind of value to archivists. Maybe there's someone out there who has an idea.

One place well suited for these is the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Alan Try BBC Heritage here - www.bbc.co.uk/heritage/more/donate.shtmlBut I can't guarantee it's something they would want - similar information may be on the programme files in the BBC's Written Archives.

Just a bit of random info: There's a rented property here in Hastings, that a few of my friends have taken flats in over the years, and decorating the stairwell are framed costume-department sketches from that BBC production of 'The Six Wives Of Henry VIII' with Keith Mitchell - Even if I've got the title wrong, I'm sure you know the one I mean. Just shows how this ephemra can turn up in the most unexpected places.
