Hello All,
I remember a old thread on here about 2006 being a terrible year for recoveries. Then episodes of Boyd Q.C. turned up, a Out Of The Unknown episode was found as well as a edition of Hippodrome, and the famous A for Andromeda episode Face of The Tiger, which was released on DVD in the Andromeda Collection ( Which I still want to see very bad ). All in all this year has been a particularly good one as far as important recoveries are concerned.
There is also the renewed interrest in vintage Doctor Who episodes, given the great success of the new series. ITV has launched its Raiders of the Lost Archive initative. As well as the BFI and thier hunt for missing episodes, Blue Peter had an appeal for lost episodes of Doctor Who. Many a great attempt has been made to return lost items to the archives. The successes of this year alone have been very good, which bodes well for future recoveries this coming year. I am also involved in some research of my own, and am having some surprising results as well ( more to be explained at a later date ). This year is not yet over, more gems could make thier way back to the archive. The only question is will they make it back to our tv screens where they were shown so many years ago ? The search continues.
Lance.
