I don't know if BBC4 have run these before, but on Friday Nov 3rd they are showing five surviving editions of 'Bobbie Gentry' screened by BBC2 in 1968:
I've only ever seen clips so it will be fantastic to see the programmes complete. I did wonder whether they originally ran longer than 30 minutes, but a quick look at BBC Genome confirms that they were indeed half hour shows. Guests include Donovan and The Hollies. Can't wait!

About bloody time!!!! They've been sitting on those episodes for so long, I was beginning to wonder if we'd ever get to see them!

So that's three episodes from 1968 and two from 1971.. I'm looking forward to these.

The Jerry Reed one is in b&w unless they coloured it using chromadots or other methods.

Really enjoyed these, meant to just watch a couple and finish it later but ended up watching all five in one go.
Was looking for an episode list for this show so as to put episode numbers to the ones shown, no doubt one is out there but in the end I just made one from combining info on TV Brain and TV Pop Diaries, I think this is right though:
Bobbie Gentry series 1:
13.07.1968 With Bobbie Gentry, Tears of Joy, Pan's People, The Alan Price Set (missing) 20.07.1968 With Bobbie Gentry, Tears of Joy, Pan's People, Don Partridge (missing) 27.07.1968 With Bobbie Gentry, Tears of Joy, Pan's People, Donovan 03.08.1968 With Bobbie Gentry, Tears of Joy, Pan's People, The Hollies 10.08.1968 With Bobbie Gentry, Tears of Joy, Pan's People, Long John Baldry 17.08.1968 With Bobbie Gentry, Tears of Joy, Pan's People, Glen Campbell (missing)
Bobbie Gentry Series 2:
18.06.1969 With Bobbie Gentry, Tears of Joy, Pan's People, Joe South (missing) 25.06.1969 With Bobbie Gentry, Tears of Joy, Pan's People, Billy Preston (missing) 02.07.1969 With Bobbie Gentry, Tears of Joy, Pan's People, Alan Price (missing) 09.07.1969 With Bobbie Gentry, Tears of Joy, Pan's People, Noel Harrison (missing) 16.07.1969 With Bobbie Gentry, Tears of Joy, Pan's People, James Taylor (missing) 23.07.1969 With Bobbie Gentry, Tears of Joy, Pan's People, John Hartford (missing)
Gentry:
01.02.1971 With Pan's People, Bobbie Gentry, The Barbara Moore Singers, Jerry Reed, Hank Strzelecki, Sue and Sunny 08.02.1971 With Pan's People, Bobbie Gentry, The Barbara Moore Singers, Tony Joe White (missing) 15.02.1971 With Pan's People, Bobbie Gentry, The Barbara Moore Singers, Marmalade, Sue and Sunny (missing) 22.02.1971 With Pan's People, Bobbie Gentry, The Barbara Moore Singers, Elton John, Sue and Sunny (missing) 08.03.1971 With Pan's People, Bobbie Gentry, The Barbara Moore Singers, Mason Williams 15.03.1971 With Pan's People, Bobbie Gentry, The Barbara Moore Singers, Randy Newman, Alan Price (missing)
(It's interesting that Alan Price was a guest on all three series and yet still isn't represented on any of the surviving episodes.)
Which means the BBC4 ones were "Bobbie Gentry" series 1 eps 3, 4 and 5 and "Gentry" eps 1 and 5. I did think the black and white 1971 episode suffered a bit from the lack of colour, especially when watched straight after three ones in their original colour. I thought I'd adjust to it after a minute or two but never seemed to. Anyway it made a good argument for putting colour back into shows that were originally filmed that way, even if that means using AI if it can't be done properly by chroma dot recovery.
Surviving episodes of the Julie Felix show would make a good BBC4 follow-up to this, especially as another one was recently recovered.

I suppose we are lucky 5 editions survived - incredible they wiped the Elton John and Glen Campbell shows - we live in hope that they may be out there...

Thanks for doing all the work, iwest, so that I can find one tiny mistake: it's Don Patridge on the 20/07/1968 show, not Dan Patridge.

OMG!!! I watched the Jerry Reed/Sue and Sunny episode this morning and that final medley was SO beautiful it made me want to cry. Bobbie singing "Golden Slumbers" in that smoky alto of hers, and then Sue and Sunny with those harmonies with her in the medley is just one of the most beautiful things I've heard in years.
