I don't think it's someone trying to scam another fan, if you look at the Auction House holding the auction on the 24th October, it looks like they are selling off an entire collection, DVD's, videos, books, toys, CDs etc.
Now it could be an estate auction, meaning owner has passed away or it could be someone has just fallen on hard time's and is getting rid of everything. Judging how odd a mix of stuff it is, it's likely an estate auction.
Question is, if they are fakes was the owner the one who faked them or was he the victim of the fake it the past. Its just a weird two episodes to do a fake knock up off.

I think the heir either didn't know that they were fake or may have placed them in there to try to draw more attention to it.

I think the heir either didn't know that they were fake or may have placed them in there to try to draw more attention to it. It could be simple as just it's stuff they found in the clear out and handed it over to the Auction House. Its the Auction House who make up the individual lots if a load of stuff is just given to them, the donating estate rarely has a say in how its all packaged together. A few weeks back they were auctioning off a load of WHO books, at least 500 or so in about 6 different lots. A lot of the rare target, new adventures and BBC books were just bundled in with the individual auctions, no prominence given, just their spines showing or just sticking out from under another book.

The film can in that photo is the one that Ian Levine acquired when he bought copies in the late 1970s. The label on it is the one that Enterprises affixed at the time. So, while it is a genuine BBC label, it's not a "master print". Thanks for contributing some sanity to this thread, Jon.

Consensus here is that the two cans featured in the listing are FAKE.
