Back in October last year I mentioned on the General TV section, that a lately departed family friend had left a very large collection of domestic vhs tapes. I have been through quite a number and found mainly tapes from the last 15 or so years but at least one vhs dates from late 1984/early 1985. It includes the 10/01/85 TOTP edition though missing the first two songs. Still it's good that music shows were among the things he kept and I'll keep looking to see if there's anything older an maybe even lost. I've noticed a tendency to record a show then leave the video running and not record over which may offer some chance of some interesting miscellany showing up. As I said I'll keep looking. Are there any music shows from c1984 that may be lost?

7th May 1981 TOTP is missing presenter links. 5 editions of Cheggers Plays Pop (83/84) Many editions of STV's regional Hear Here and the part-networked In Concert. Mary O'Hara and Friends, TVS (not much 'pop' music, but.... still....) Some episodes of the O Zone 1989-1991 Some editions of the Ch4 the Other Side of the Tracks
There's definitely some more, but that's a start!

7th May 1981 TOTP is missing presenter links. Surely this would be an easy candidate to be restored? There must be a VHS or Betamax tape of the original broadcast that could be used?

YES, and I'm looking. I have several people who would do a fan restoration. Hopefully a couple are even reading this. That said, we've not found a good off-air YET.

Excellent. Just checked my notes and I've got "Kim Wilde - Chequered Love TOTP 7/5/81" as a clip, but not sure if there's a presenter link. Will have to check my actual tapes to see if I have the full episode.
Anyway, back on topic, Top of the Pops from 21/3/85 also only exists an an off-air, so that's one to look out for in case the quality is any better.

According to TV Cream some 1980s editions of TOTP were performed live & the BBC had technical problems recording them.

Thank you everyone for the replies with various shows to look out for. I'll do a little more looking next week. Saturday Superstore or indeed Swap Shop is a show I would love to find amongst the collection. 'Afternoon Plus' also which I think followed the Thames 'Monday Matinée ' slot among other shows and a precious daytime TV memory. Any 'Cheggars Plays Pop' would be fantastic. All possibilities. I've noticed the earlier the vhs the more cutting from one item to another but the '84 vhs ran on to include an LCU feature from LWT so anything could crop up. Again thanks for all the comments. Michael

Hi all. Does anyone have any knowledge about 'Entertainment UK', dates of transmission and if it all survives? I've resumed my going through our family friend's collection of domestic vhs (retrieving it a challenge; I had to clamber over a corrugated sheet to reach some vhs filled sacks!) and found something I've no memory of; A programme from the Carlton 'Nighttime' TV strand. Its from the third and I believe last series of 'Entertainment UK', hosted by Tania Bryer and broadcast around late summer 1993. It's a mix of theatre, art and music. The music section has features on James (interview with Tim Booth and James Gott), an interview with Donald Fagen coinciding with the 'Karmakiriad' release and (best thing for me) an interview with Ed O'brien and Colin Greenwood to tie in with the successful re-issue of 'Creep'. I've looked and I've not seen any of it on YouTube. Picture and sound quality absolutely perfect. Any info on the series status as existing in full or not would be gratefully appreciated.
