The Guardian technology suplliment 2/11 has an article about the Vidfire process and restoration. The Dr Who serial 'invasion' from 1969 apparently now looks as fresh as the day it was transmitted.
Cant help thinking they did got far enough though. If they were doing frame by frame work, why didnt they colourize it?
Purests might shudder but it would sell a lot more units.

I recently watched the video release of 'The Invasion'. Both the picture and sound quality were often substandard. I look forward to seeing the RT clean-up on this story. I've mixed feelings about the animation of parts 1 and 4, but advance word is good.
By and large, I thought the 'Guardian' piece was well done, though the brief explanation of the BBC's archive purge seemed inaccurate.

If you buy some thin tracing paper and place it over the tv screen you can watch your vidfired dvds as the film originally was before they changed it.
Maybe we can get free sheets of tracing paper with each dvd pack, so that viewers can get the authentic viewing experience.
