Just a thought has there been any appeals overseas for missing episodes like the ones that Blue Peter and the Radio Times ran, ie with a reward for any episodes handed back.

Neither BP nor the RT offered a reward, and that’s something that’s been debated at length here. My personal view is that any overseas “Appeal” would be best targeted at places with a 16mm collecting community as about the only reason for prints to “leak” is because the magpie was interested in 16mm, knew someone who was, or believed they could sell them.

Blue Peter did offer a reward - a full-sized This Planet Earth Dalek, although I think Ian Levine let it be known that if they didn’t want the Dalek, they could have the £2000 (Or whatever it cost) cash instead. Not that it was coming out of his pocket. I think he was getting some of his mates to agree to stump up the money.

I'm not aware of the Ian reward getting any takers.
Where money would have been helpful might have been places like the poor nigerian tv employees. Money would have gone a long way for them and Maybe if they were given a few buffet lunches courtesy of pm, it might have generated more goodwill and loyalty.

It sounds like he was generous to TV employees during his search. This is a story from his appearance at the Pandorica convention in 2015: I remember when I first went to Zambia, they were kind of “we don’t really want to let you into this building, and the girl that ran the archives was a girl called Martha – great friend of mine now, I’ve known her for many many years. I was at the station, and we were talking, she said “Oh, it’s my wedding anniversary today, and we’ve been married this long,” I said “Oh, you going out for a meal tonight?”, she goes “No, we can’t afford it.” and I just went like, “Here’s 40 dollars go out for a meal with your husband for goodness sake, it’s your anniversary.” And she just looked at me like that. Next day, she said she’d had a fabulous night last night, fantastic, she said “There’s the keys to the vault.” So, she’s a great friend, and being a warm human being and befriending people, you’ll find it opens doors.
