It isn't quite missing. A full colour version dubbed into German exists, but the English soundtrack is lost.
This is a B/W print, but with presumably the original soundtrack. I suppose it would be possible to take the soundtrack and the colour pictures to recreate the original, right?
I spotted it a few days ago. I PM'd several senior members of this forum. I don't know if they took any action, or if the even saw my message.
The seller says it's from his friend's collection. I wonder what other treasures his friend might have.

Well you certainly did the right thing by only mentioning it on here AFTER the auction had ended. Never understood why people do that so well done!

Fingers crossed whoever bought it will return it to the BBC - and maybe one day we'll even get to see it! (I've just started re-watching the surviving english-language Paul Temples & a 'new' one would be rather nice!)

Hmm. TVBrain has it as:
Series 3 28.06.1970 Steal a Little Happiness (missing) 05.07.1970 The Suitcase (missing) 12.07.1970 Murder in Munich – 1 (missing) 19.07.1970 Murder in Munich – 2 (missing) 26.07.1970 Re-Take (missing)
With the episode as just plain missing; no mention of audio issues.
IMDB has it as Series 2 ep.24.

Doesn't a German broadcaster hold several English audios for Paul Temples? Sort of irrelevant now, but I wonder if this episode's was one of them?

Newsflash - TVBrain is less than 100% accurate.
See Wiki for details.
In May 2016, the series began to appear in German-speaking countries, released by German DVD company Fernsehjuwelen (the name means 'TV jewels'). These DVD releases cover all the episodes of seasons 2 and 3 and most episodes from season 4, across three different boxsets. Many episodes from seasons 2–4 that are lost from the BBC's own archive still survive in German archives, and many of these episodes are made commercially available for the first time on these DVD boxsets, albeit with dubbed German audio only.
And here is the German version on youtube

There were some differences in the edits, right? And I think it was suspected, but not 100% proven, that one of the German companies involved might still have different edits/languages, if only they'd cooperate.

Hope it's one with that guy running along the car park (which Francis Matthews hated as everyone assumed it must be him !)
I recall Spike Milligan as a postman calling at Paul's open door with 'Paul' running (through the car park) towards him
Spike saying;
'Mr Temple, letter for you'
Paul replies; 'Coming...it's all right I'll get it Stevie...'
- Spike begins running too (on the spot) saying; 'We'll meet in the middle...!'

Now that the auction is ended, im hopeful we can hear from the archive that they are at least working on it
If not, perhaps someone can reach out to the seller to see if it's possible to get a copy of the audio.

He's currently selling some pairs of shoes. The 16mm film seems to have been just the one exception. It's not likely at all that he had the expertise to run the print through a projector and keep an audio track before selling. If you are in possession of the German DVD sets, then perhaps you can help in the other thread to identify which episode that clip is from?
