Tim, mate, there wasn't a rumour about the War Machines being sent on to Africa from Singapore back in 2013 - I just looked it up on BroaDWcast. It all payed out in back 1984: "All four episodes were later recovered from Nigeria in 1984, these being the ones that had originated in New Zealand, and sent to Singapore. Singapore or Nigeria had made further censor cuts or timing edits to some of the episodes. Episode two had parts of the cliffhanger ending removed, while the same footage was mostly missing from the recap in part three. Had those two episodes been edited and spliced together for broadcast in Nigeria?"Bill is quite right. However, fans of the question "why did The War Machines end up in Africa?" will soon be in for a treat. I recently recorded an interview with Jon P about this very thing. If there isn't already a section in the Guinness book of records for talking at length about "why did The War Machines end up in Africa?", there soon should be! It's a fascinating conversation which will clarify in great detail how and why stories were sold to various locations (and as an added bonus it goes a long way to debunking the rumours of 2013.) Thanks, Tim, looking forward to this podcast. Myself, I'd rather wait until PM puts all his cards on the table before putting any 2013 rumours to rest. He's promised recently the list of DW MEs will go down soon.

The rumour of 2013 was that Tenth Planet and Power had been found in an African country that didn't broadcast them. Philip has often said and hinted that things ended up where they had no right to be, either by things getting thrown in crates, or because episodes travelled together in batches. There's two schools of thought on this, and there's been absolutely zero evidence given in favour of the idea. Anyway - the podcast is fascinating, so I'd be well up for hearing your theory of how such a thing could have happened after you've digested it.

He has said at convention appearances that he's found lists relating to the bicycling system that go against what we already knew. No doubt, this will be of interest to us (one day) I tend to think in the 3rd school of thought - that he didn't want to release WOF and EOTW at the time, due to WOF3 being taken, but felt under pressure to do so, due to the 50th. That Marco Polo - rumoured by Bleeding Cool in July 2013 to also be released alongside WOF/EOTW - was also swiped. That many eps were found, but in no recoverable condition to be released any time soon. That he's kept quiet over what he has due to the theft of WOF3... and then I awoke and had my cornflakes.

15 years is a long time (for the search) to keep quiet about most details. We’ve gotten a few but not much else.

So am I understanding this correct? Australia actually destroyed their own copies of Toymaker rather than return them to the bbc? But ep 4 survived by error or was sent back from Singapore?

Supposedly it was filed away in the sports section of Australian archives as someone assumed it was cricket match with the name The Final Test!
