???Are'nt I lucky I remember seeing on TV first time QUATERMASS AND THE PIT and the omnibus edition a year later, also saw THE BIG PULL, THE MONSTERS, THE STONE TAPE, BAM! POW! ZAPP!,WINE OF INDIA, THE CHOPPER,THE CRUNCH, A FOR ANDROMEDA, ANDROMEDA BREAKTHROUGH,BEASTS, MURRAIN, and I remember hearing something on a Reddifusion radio which Im certain was an episode of The Trollenberg Terror , I remember some woman screaming " Its coming down from the mountain" I am pretty sure also I may have seen 1984 but Iwould have been very young and it would have seemed very complicated to me. I understand that 1984 was cleaned up for a DVD release but some copyright problem as prevented this, and I think it will be something like 2012 before it can be released !!!

8-)I read somewhere a few years ago that THE TROLLENBERG TERROR [ATV] TV serial 1957, THE STRANGE WORLD OF PLANET X [ATV] serial 1956 and DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE [ATV] serial 1956 had been found somewhere in Canada there is some credibility to the story because i was in touch with someone who knew someone who had copies of some of the episodes from the first two serials but the person would not part with any copies WOW! this would be the next best thing to finding the last episode of THE QUATERMASS EXPERIMENT !!

That sounds very interresting indeed. You might want to think about asking this friend of a friend if the collector might part with a copy now that a few years have passed. You might think of writting an indepth article of your memories of these vintage series, I would certainly like to know more about A for Andromeda from people who remember watching the episodes back in 1961.

I know I go on about A for Andromeda, but ... 1. If you read the book ... 2. then maybe get see the recently recovered Ep.6 (it's on the Andromeda Anthology DVD)... 3. and then can get hold of a copy of the 1971 Italian TV (RAI) version 'A Come Andromeda' (3xVHS) (Apparently still available at www.elleu.it/customer/home.php?collana=1050 it plays fine on a UK VHS, but beware there are no english subtitles) ... you'll get a good idea of what the original was like. Sorry, thought I'd logged in, but I hadn't (so I can't edit) ... as I was saying, the Italian production gives a very good feel of the slow, talky, thoughtful nature of the original, which some people today find boring, but for many was what made it so good, and different from the more usual 'BEM' SF (dare I say like Quatermass ?)

Mmm.. might just do a more in depth article on my memories of the golden age of telly ... heres another query... im sure i saw a TV serial once, or part of it , it was either the title of one of the episodes or the actual serial, can anyone help THE RED GRASS ? ah... and another one i remember something in the title WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN , A giant saucer hangs over London they even had a newsflash at the beginning with a real news broadcaster someone like Tim Brinton, i think ?also I think ITV had a few complaints about this, scared half the population [well isnt that the idea anyway, it scared me], all I remember of the cast was Irish actor Eddie Byrne was in it. See im doing an indepth thing or am i out of my depth ? Hey im enjoying this!

I'd love to see the Trollenberg Terror, but I'm not holding out much hope that it exists anymore.
The feature film version (aka "The Crawling Eye") is terrific -- I've got a beautiful 16mm print of it...

Hey, Beatman. I left an answer on the other thread you asked this on, just incase you hadn't seen it.
