Just tweeted TPTV about this week's Footage Detectives, which featured a comedy film sequence of Tony Blackburn from this series. This would be quite a find as according to TV Brain, of the 46 episodes made (not 41 as stated on FD), only 1 full and 2 part-episodes exist on domestic formats only.
Apart from this info, does anyone have any other memories of, or information on, this series? Apparently it was made by Southern but it was implied it may not have been fully networked. One person who wrote in remembered seeing it on Westward.
Thanks

Nice one,Rob. It's episode 69. Discussion starts at 21 minutes.
Do we know that the insert isn't from a known survival?

It's a new discovery (on what looks like 16mm black and white film) but no idea if it duplicates any of the previously surviving material. It was first thought to be the title sequence but apparently it's an insert from one episode. Every episode contained a filmed comedy item.

I've written a piece about the show www.tvpopdiaries.co.uk/timefor.html It lasted about ten months, so Southern must have thought it worth a punt, however it got caught up in the ITV franchise reorganisation in 1968, so other ITV stations that took it showed it whenever they could, resulting in a messy showing schedule. A lot of great acts appeared, never to be seen again.

Thanks This is thought to be the show where Arthur Brown caught his hair alight on (as he had only been using a kitchen utensil as a helmet at this point) Mike Mansfield was thought to be the director(so was keen on pop sensation), and apparently the Southern TV ident caption was also set on fire.

I remember watching Time For Blackburn (I was in the London & South East region), and I'm pretty sure Arthur Brown did an introductory ident for the show at least once, in the style of the opening of "Fire".

Thanks Hi Rob, I created a thread for Time For Blackburn and New Release away back in 2013 here it is ... missingepisodes.proboards.com/thread/8539/southern-shows-release-time-blackburn?page=2If you or anybody else wants me to try and find some of the photos that I deleted then I'll do my best to find the originals again and post them again

IIRC there's a brief clip from this show on the 21 years of Southern Television special from 1979, Blackbum was looking at some women's knees I think.

I have a article about The BeeGees appearing on "Time for Blackburn" (from the Southampton Daily Echo). I will have to see if I can find the article .

The show is notable for Stones fans for featuring the only TV broadcast of their 1968 NME Poll Winners performance - Brian Jones last concert (not including the Rock & Roll Circus TV show of course).
