As discussed on earlier threads, here is the Choreographed Conservative Party Sketch that had been cut from the opening of episode 38 of Monty Python and never put back. This comes from a Canadian collector who recorded a Buffalo PBS broadcast, and alas the TV station's phone number advertising a pedge drive is burned into the screen, making this pretty unusable for a restoration. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGvnEsEAs0wCheers, David Morgan ("Monty Python Speaks")

And well done! Perhaps the letters could be replaced by a sign saying "restored sketch (thanks to david Morgan)"?

Thanks for posting this!
David, do you have a copy of the 'Satan Animation' that Spiny Norman had up on his YouTube before it was deleted?
I have a copy (from YouTube) on a friend's computer (hopefully it's still there). More people need to see rare Python....

if only i could hear it but im still laughing ,i have now all the monty python series on VHS. but why was it cut? ;D It was cut for the repeat on 17th March 1974, which was two and a bit weeks after the first General Election that year, which had an inconclusive result - there was another election in October. With the political situation uncertain, the BBC was probably worried about accusations of political bias (since the clip does concentrate more on the Tories than Labour!) - shame they had to hack the master tape about though...

Oh, and this sketch does still exist on a b/w film recording at the BBC...

My God! David, thank you so much for sharing this clip. Python - the programme that keeps on giving. If you're not involved in remastering the DVDs, then I shall write to my MP, Kevin Phillips-Bong.
If the original sketch appears on the telerecording, then maybe some Restoration Team slight of hand could fix it? You've got film print + video colour reference, etc etc. Unless Terry Jones has it in his cellar.
If not, then this should be added to a future DVD as an extra. And, funny to think that this would have been the sketch that ended the third series, according to the shooting scripts...

I can only speak for Macs but I'm sure there will be something for PCs. If you use the excellent free browser Firefox you can have extensions, go to the list from the extensions box. Do a search on video, there are several to grabbers to choose from. I used Video Pirate. Bring up the video and click on the icon which has been installed at the bottom of your Firefox's screen. It will detect the video and you can download it. This particular video is a Flash video and you need to change the file so that it has an extension of .flv. Now go to versiontracker.com and do a search on Flash video and choose a Flash video player - I chose flvThing. I am sure there a programs somewhere to convert .flv files to .avi, etc.
