A British music hall sketch that has sunk into obscurity in its country of origin but is an indispensable New Year’s Eve ritual in swathes of continental Europe will be given a new lease of life, after German production powerhouse UFA announced this week it would start filming a six-part prequel next year. www.theguardian.com/world/2022/dec/30/european-new-years-eve-tv-staple-dinner-for-one-prequel

Why? The original is on YT in various guises. It’s a mild comedy where an elderly waiter has to negotiate various obstacles whilst serving dinner to an elderly widowed woman, whilst also getting increasingly drunk by pretending to be her dining companion.
