This is a 26 ep. set of 13 transcription discs from the 70s so far relatively unknown. They were produced by and for Transcription Services. They were never aired in the UK so do not appear listed on Genome. They have not been tracked to any overseas stations either. Indeed only a very few single discs have popped up on auction sites. Does anyone here know anything about this set?

Apparently Genome lists a commensurate set of programmes with similar titles called The Story Of Pop. Could the two series be the same?

The 'Story of Pop' were produced in the 90's. It may be an updated version of the 'Story of Rock' since it included more modern music of the time i.e. Rap and Hip-Hop. It is again narrated by Alan Freeman and has been broadcast a few times on 6music during their documentary slot at 2.00am, being a night shift worker, I did listen to the documentary. Of the 52 episodes, episode 43 titled 'Parental Discretion is Advised' would be skipped.

Of course, there was also the original "Story of Pop" (26 eps) in 1973-4, with Freeman. Could the original series have been renamed for foreign broadcast?

Bit too expensive for me but interesting to know that they have survived.
