This quirky single was fairly unsuccessful (reaching only #25) and was effectively disowned by the group for years thereafter, not being included on a hits compilation until 2014. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew they did any TV or promo stuff for it upon release? Likely long junked if they did I know, but thought it worth asking to see if there was anything done in the first place to lament the junking of!

A performance of ‘Dogs’ was taped for ‘Top Of The Pops’ on 19-06-68. Unfortunately (due to the song’s lack of major chart success), the broadcast was cancelled, and the performance was never seen.

Actually "Dogs" had appeared on a number of compilations prior to 2014; first it was included on the "Direct Hits" LP in 1968 (released some months after the single), then on "Rarities Vol. 1 [1966-1968]" in 1983, and also on "Two's Missing" released in 1987. And that's just in the UK!

I was over-enthusiastic with my response! I've always loved the song, and the band's rejection of it baffled me; there's not much difference between this and the Small Faces' "Lazy Sunday" really, and that always gets lauded.

I love it myself!
My main interest in The Who is the pre-Tommy era (the '90s expanded reissue of 'The Who Sell Out' is one of my most-played CDs!).
