Hi there
I'm trying to piece together what full editions (or almost full editions) of Multi Coloured Swap Shop still exist in the BBC archives.
I found a post on this site from 2008 which lists the editions as below. I ask because Wikipedia says 41 editions exist (as opposed to the 36 below) and says that the earliest surviving edition is the final edition (episode 21) from Feb 77 from Series 1? I've checked TV Brain which says Episode 21 of Series 1 is missing. Also the other surviving editions listed on Wikipedia don't always match the list below.
I know Wikipedia can, of course, be wrong, but wondered if the list, copied and pasted below up to Series 5, is still definitely correct (and no further full editions have been located since the list posting in 2008)?
I'm aware of the many various clips on You Tube (and the 05 11 77 edition on there).....
Series 1
27th December 1976 - Swap of The Pops 25th August 1977 - Festival 77 (edited repeat)

Series 3
10th March 1979 15th April 1979 - Star Awards 1979 26th May 1979 - The Multi-Coloured Music Show
Series 4
29th September 1979 6th October 1979 10th November 1979 15th December 1979 5th January 1980 19th January 1980 16th February 1980 15th March 1980 6th April 1980 - Star Awards 1980 5th May 1980 - Multi-Coloured Music Show 1st June 1980 - Multi-Coloured Picture Show (series compilation)
Series 5
27th September 1980 4th October 1980 13th December 1980 27th December 1980 3rd January 1981 10th January 1981 17th January 1981 24th January 1981 14th February 1981 28th February 1981 14th March 1981 28th March 1981 17th April 1981 - Star Awards 1981 4th May 1981 - Multi-Coloured Music Show 1981 30th August 1981 - Swap Shop's Summer Stock Taking (series compilation)
Thank you for any help!

It's a shame the BBC sold a job lot of 2 inch tapes to Australia which included a lot of the Multi-Coloured Swap Shop off air recordings.

Would some of these be in a private collection? Was Noel Edmunds known for taping his own programme?

Does anyone know if Swap Shop was routinely recorded as it was going out live each week, especially the earlier editions? I guess it would involve 2 x 90 minute quad tapes being used to capture the majority of the programme?
