A neighbour loaned me her DVD boxset of the Morecambe and Wise Christmas specials. Is this really what the BBC's archive masters look like? Note all the lines around edges, particularly white areas. The DVD box warns viewers to expect less than perfect quality because they are old programmes! I might find my 1980s VHS recordings and compare.   |

What year are these DVDs from? I think there was a time when wrong/inferior equipment had been used, and some stuff had to be remastered. Fawlty Towers for example. This was a very technical story from nearly 20 years ago. Perhaps someone remembers the exact details?
