Wonderful. The first clip from PopSpot singing Do Wah Diddy Diddy was shown around 1983 I think on The Tube (channel 4) which was interlinked with a snippet of Pink Floyd (The Scarecrow 1967) Pathe Newsreel and Julie Driscoll (This Wheels on Fire (Beat Club 1968).

Of the four talking Heads in Late-Night Lineup, Paul Jones-the only one not wearing a tie-has his arm in a sling. I take it he had a certificate from his doctor 'excusing neckwear'.

That Pop Spot clip of 'Do Wah Diddy' also appeared in one of Dave Clark's Ready Steady Go compilations, I always wondered why it was only a brief bit of the song, now I know that's all they mimed to! I also remember seeing it years ago on one of those Time Life commercials.

I found a few clips of Manfred Mann on youtube that I haven't seen before, I thought I'd post them just in case they are new to people here. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAsUd2JKVRAThe Late Night Line Up clip is fascinating from a Kinks archive POV, as it includes the clip from the Ray Davies profile/interview from the first episode of 'A Whole Scene Going'.. this, which features the earliest known on camera interview footage with Ray Davies, has appeared in a few documentaries and online a few times, and I've always wondered why it stops halfway through and where the rest is.. now I realise it's cos the original AWSG episode doesn't exist, and all the docs were using the LNLU episode as their source! EDIT: I see Paul Jones actually describes the original end of the RD interview later in the discussion!

Long suspected the RD clip, used in the 80's on a Kinks bio, came from a LLNU. The reference to the fade out mirrors the Who one, where P.T's reply is drowned out by the end music credits.

That's the first time I've heard the song 'Budgie'and on the first listen I think it could have been a hit single maybe it was an album track it's a good song.

That's the first time I've heard the song 'Budgie'and on the first listen I think it could have been a hit single maybe it was an album track it's a good song. I love it! It's a bit quirky, but still commercial. Presumably if they were promoting it on tv it was an intended single, although it doesn't appear to have been issued as such. It's not an LP track either. I'm only aware of it as it was included on a double CD set of Mike D'Abo era Manfred Mann recordings some years ago. Unfortunately the CD notes (such as they were) gave no clue as to where it came from, or even a year. Fantastic to see that colour performance from 'Once More With Felix' - that was a real surprise. It seems the audio has been replaced with a stereo version as the original soundtrack to the performance is damaged, according to the uploader's notes.
Regarding the Late Night Line Up segment, wouldn't it be interesting to know whether the extract from 'Whole Scene Going' shown to the guests was being played back from videotape or from a telerecording...

Wow! Full marks to the set designers and creative bods on this very late Manfred Mann performance...

Really nice set design for "Fox On The Run" although I half expected Zebedee, Florence and Mr. Rusty to make an appearance..

Really nice set design for "Fox On The Run" although I half expected Zebedee, Florence and Mr. Rusty to make an appearance.. Spot on! And then a giant Dougall comes and gobbles them all up at the end! I think was definitely from a TV show for adults though!
