Have the programs from the original talk radio been archived.
I refer in particular to shows featuring Ian Collins and Tommy Boud

Likely not. These stations seemed to have ephemeral programmes. Why would anyone record them? Opinion is cheap after all. BTW who are the presenters you name? Are they of sufficient renown to record for posterity?

Are they of sufficient renown to record for posterity? To be clear I refer to the 1995-1998, pre-Kelvin Mackenzie (ie intelligent) incarnation of the station before it went downmarket and where it had intelligent presenters or the left and the right. It was for instance the first station to report the death of Diana and one might think that this might have historical value. And indeed there was much live reporting of that sort. The presenters weren't famous certainly but one wonders why that should be a criteria as opposed to the quality of the output. There are some recordings available which are popular amongst fans of Tommy Boyd in particular which I have but I just wondered whether such things had been archived something which is or was easier to do with radio. I think you might be right in this instance.

I remember Steve Wright was briefly on Talk Radio when it first started, between his Radio 1 & 2 stints.

LBC has been archiving for some years now (look up their Podcast library) but I don't know if they remove the oldest ones to save capacity?
IIRC Tommy Boyd was at LBC for a 'short' while, as he use to upset the callers a fair bit LOL.

I thought he's given that up He used to have discussions which would start with a ridiculous premise like "who need their legs" which he would then justify. I think I still have these on audio somewhere. It's good in terms of really making people think.

Tommy Boyd was good. He came up with a decent format for a show 'The Human Zoo' where people could discuss anything they liked while he basically just wound the caller up. I remember him presenting Magpie many years ago now.
