Nice finds Andrew, especially 1.1.70! Wow! I notice there's no music bed under Savile's links so this New Year Special must just pre-date the style of presentation (with psychedelic background effects) that can be seen in the existing Jan 1970 telerecordings. Maybe that (and the new title sequence) came in with first regular show the following week.
Pretty decent quality for a domestic recording. Out of interest how did you come across the tapes?

Strange that the very similar 'Friends' (Arrival) and 'Melting Pot' (Blue Mink) were played consecutively.

Out of interest how did you come across the tapes? Car boot sales mostly. I think these all came from separate batches over the last few years, only recently got round to digitising them. Nice, casual announcement!!

Many thanks. I'll send these off to Kaleidoscope if you don't mind....... Go for it If you send Kaleidoscope my way I can sort them out with the uncompressed files instead of the mp3s. Needless to say: Please find more! And/or other programs too. *Cough* In other news... Found this one a couple of days ago. It's missing the start, and a short section when the tape was turned over, but it's mostly there.
And massive thanks to the guides on the Popscene forums, without which I'd never be able to identify the specific editions!

Live TOTP vocals for "Judy Teen" is a treasure! Wish we had the video too (same with 10cc!). For those who haven't seen it, this is from my TOTP book: Milton Reame-James [Cockney Rebel] (2021): "Ours was an unusual episode. This was 1974 where trade unions ruled, there was a dispute at the BBC with the porters who were the only people allowed to carry large items in the BBC. So drums and keyboards were not allowed. We hastily got the road crew to dig out all the guitars we had, and so drummer Stuart Elliot, and I (keys) ended up miming with guitars!! After ‘Judy Teen’ was recorded, the guys from 10cc came over and asked if they could borrow them for their song too. We were filmed on the Morecambe and Wise show set, the TOTP set was out of bounds I guess."

Agreed! The Popscene forum is great! It sure is! Incidentally, we've recently been debating on Popscene whether there was 1 or 2 TOTP performances of 'Judy Teen', and whether or not any survive (there are similar older debates on this forum!).
