Does anyone know whether the entire run of Coronation Street from 1960 - present exists, or are there gaps in the archive ?

all episodes exist, although some colour episodes from the early '70's (early colour episodes then) exist only as b/w telerecordings.

Most episodes from the 60s seem to be telerecordings made for export. Not sure how many 60s episodes still survive on VT.

According to the KAL guide 14 episodes of Coronation Street are missing only.
They might have been found since of course.

When Granada Gold repeated the series they started from mid-1977 onwards. I wondered whether there were ommissions prior to that date.

I wonder how those episodes came to be missing?

Eddie Yates pinched them.

Aww but it was probably only so he could get the money to buy Hilda a Christmas present.

1967, around the time of the train crash episodes. In this case, the junking must've been a mistake. I'm sure they'd planned to keep them all.
So, basically a block of almost two months.

Those episodes were “missing” when Kal compiled the drama guide. They’ve since been found, a fact which will no doubt be reflected in the next printing

So is there, in fact, only one episode missing now?

So is there, in fact, only one episode missing now? I think all those listed as junked were subsequently found. Of course, there is still the matter of that 80s episode which G+ showed zoomed up, presumably because they could only find a viewing copy and they were hiding the timecode …
