Actually it was just a one-off special. Cliff never had his own TV series in 1967: he'd last had a short 3-part series in 1965, and apart from 1969's 'Life with Johnny' (religious programmes) he wouldn't have his own series again until 1970. Whoops! apologies.

Cliff videos are officially licenced from TV companies via a company in Germany c. It's worthwhile for artists and estates to do it as they will earn royalties from the advertising as will the TV companies. They work with an ever-growing roster of artists and i'd expect to see many more performances make it on to YouTube this way.

Just out of interest, does anyone know what show this was from, UK or European?

Just out of interest, does anyone know what show this was from, UK or European? Here's another song from that show (with Cliff watching himself on TV in 1970): I wrote this in 'Channelling The Beat!': Early 1967 – Unknown TV show (UK?): Move It / In The Country
Probably taped in the UK for German TV broadcast, ‘Move It’ is unlike any other in that it is a very “loose” version, with forgotten lyrics and missed cues. Despite this, Cliff ad-libs admirably, and Hank plays some very un-Shadows like improvised guitar licks complete with a volume pedal. The other song performed here is the excellent ‘In The Country’, a No. 6 hit.

Thanks for the info Peter. I've been mystified by this clip for a long time and thought it might be German or Dutch. In the Country is definitely one of Cliff's best songs.

To me, the audience looks British (though I may be wrong!). That's why I suspect it is something that was taped here for overseas broadcast. Both performances are strange: 'Move It' is clearly unrehearsed and only half-remembered, and 'In The Country' shows far more shots of the audience than it does of Cliff!

^ Yes I think they look British, so the recorded in Britain for foreign broadcast theory makes sense.

Peter i've been after this German TV show for years. Here's the notes i made over a decade ago:
Cliff & The Shadows recorded this live show for German television in May 1967 and remains unseen to this day. I believe ZDF own the copyright and their studio performance was edited into two separate broadcasts.
SHOW ONE 1. Rise & Fall of Flingel Bunt (Shadows) 2. The Minute You're Gone 3. Somewhere (Shadows) 4. Time Drags By 5. Spanish Harlem 6. A Little Bitty Tear (Shadows) 7. In The Country
SHOW TWO 1. Apache (Shadows) 2. Lucky Lips 3. Move It 4. Time Drags By (Repeat from Show One) 5. FBI (Shadows) 6. What'd I Say
Clips of five songs from this show have found their way onto YouTube in the past - In The Country, Lucky Lips, Move It,Apache (Shads) and 'What I'd Say'. This final track is a real cracking performance which i have on audio. The big let-down in the whole production is the camera director - a rank amateur who infuriatingly for the most part focuses on the audience and not the performers!

Here's the only other clip from that show i can find on YouTube. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUaJDXcSoSUExcellent sound and visual quality as you'd expect from a German TV production... albeit the audio is out of sync!

Did anyone catch 'Lamont Dozier at the BBC' a few years back? Apparently it included rare footage from 1964 of Cliff Richard performing The Supremes' 'Where Did Our Love Go'. It's on Facebook, but filmed from a TV set: www.facebook.com/635731443/videos/5851714664894203

It was broadcast on New Years Day in 2023 which was a Sunday and explains why I wasn't looking out for it as it wasn't broadcast on a Friday or Saturday.
