I hear that BBC Four is showing versions of Up Pompeii that have been restored from recovered copies (NTSC tapes) using the new NTSC->PAL reverse standards conversion process.
Which episodes only exist as NTSC recoveries?

The "Comedy Playhouse" pilot, series 1 ep4, series 2 ep2, and "Further Up Pompeii" from 1975 are the only ones that are PAL originals, all the others are NTSC recoveries.

I would be of the impression that we are very fortunate to have the NTSC recoveries.
Though they are not quite as good as the PAL originals, they are not far off, and certainly better than nothing.
I would like to know the story of the recovery of the Up Pompeii shows, if anyone has that information?
Yours,

Looks like it isn't then !
Tonight's episode, the Barbara Windsor one, was that an un VIDFIREed copy?
Unless the weather has f**ked up something?
(I caught bits of it during 'The Bill' ad breaks!)

VidFire isn't the process used for these? VidFire is for turning a film copy back into interlaced 50 field video.
Someone has managed to reverse engineer the original PAL to NTSC conversion. Which gives better results than before. That's what's been done to Up Pompeii which exists on NTSC video.
