I was refering to the reconstructions of episodes 1 & 3-6. I assume you're referring to these episodes as they appear in the 2nd Loose Canon recon of the Space Pirates? The audio on that 2nd recon is quite good and miles better than the audio on the official BBC CD and the earlier 1st LC recon. I actually felt like I'd finally heard the story properly after hearing LC recon 2. Actually I did most likely see & hear all of it during its 1969 UK broadcast - as we always watched it every week. But unlike some other stories (eg Moonbase, Evil, Tomb, Abominable, Web, Fury, Wheel, Dominators, War Games & others) it didn't really stick in my memory. Despite that now (& maybe then quite possibly) I really like it. I've often wondered where the better quality audio recording used on the 2nd LC recon came from. Does anyone please have any further details about this? Well, Here we go again...

That doesn’t answer the question - if Holman recorded up to The Three Doctors, why isn’t there a crystal clear Space Pirates - the CD release was not anywhere near that. Holden did record The Space Pirates, but his recordings were done with a microphone against the television. Richard Landen's recording, use for the CD was a line recording, so the best version available. I'm curious why the line recording was not comparable to grahams. If the line recording deteriorated, could the microphone recording be better?
